Vtg WORKING General Electric 1A1 Adjustable Art Deco Infrared Lamp Bakelite Base. This listing is for a vintage infra-red lamp with a bakelite base made by General Electric. Due to its art deco design, and bakelite base, I would say this lamp is from the 1920s or early 1930s. It is in fully functional condition, you just plug it in and it is on. It is very adjustable, it tilts up and down via an adjustable knob at the top, and can be raised and lowered with a knob at the bottom.
The Bulb glows with a lot of heat very quickly after being plugged in, I would wager this bulb is good for a long time.
This lamp also has the intricate mesh grill in front of the bulb still, all other examples I have been able to find are missing this piece. The original paint on the metal exterior piece is in good shape, it has an interesting industrial color to it. There are some signs of wear, as is to be expected of an almost 100 yr-old lamp designed for heavy use. Some small scratches, dents, etc are present, but they only add to the patina. (Please see photos.). The lower knob is brown painted metal, the upper knob is bakelite as well.
The cord on this lamp is NINE FEET long! It is in very good vintage condition, it is not dry rotted and falling apart, and is in good malleable shape. The plug is also original I believe, and is also in good shape. The base has a great art-deco teardrop design with some grooved lines. It is in great condition, with just one small, barely noticeable, flaw on it.
