SCARCE ANTIQUE GOLD STUART CRYSTAL BONNIE PRINCE CHARLIE MINIATURE PORTRAIT RING
A super quality antique English high carat gold (tests around 22 carat) ring; wonderfully made, with a faceted-edge crystal holding a finely hand painted on vellum portrait of Charles Edward Stuart, aka 'Bonnie Prince Charlie'. The rounded back finely engraved with stylised thistle motifs.
A scarce and early collectible ... truly a museum worthy piece!!
CONDITION
: Very good. Slightest signs of wear & fading to paint commensurate with age and use. Some warping and shrinkage to miniature edges - see pictures
. Originally a slide, lower carat shank & outer bezel rim mount added later.
DATE/MARKS
: Mid 18th Century. Not marked.
DIMENSIONS
: Crystal 19 x 15 mm (1 inch = 25.4 mm). To give an impression of scale, the coin is 19 mm or ¾ of an inch diameter.
RING SIZE
: J or 5 US (can be resized within reason).
WEIGHT
: Approx. 6.8 grams.
