Description
A beautiful large antique Georgian 15K gold foiled back amethyst floral cross pendant, dating to circa 1800. This large antique Georgian closed back solid 15K yellow gold pendant is in the shape of a wonderful floral cross with stunning glowing foiled back amethysts-the center amethyst slightly raised to add depth-in lovely flat cut pear and oval shapes and all set in 15K gold bezel settings with pretty gold beadwork edges with larger gold beads on the ends. Made for candlelight, the amethysts are the most beautiful mixture of lighter and darker lilac-purples which change color beautifully when they touch the light, the silver foils underneath add a stunning gleaming depth to every stone. The reverse has a large hinged bail. The pendant is unmarked and tests for 15K gold. A wonderful addition to any Georgian jewelry collection! The pendant measures approximately 52mm x 50mm without the bail and is about 59mm long with the bail. The amethysts measure approximately 17mm, 10mm and 8mm long. The bail opening is approximately 8.5mm x 5.5mm. The pendant has a total weight of approximately 17.3 grams. The brooch is in general very good condition with all over wear including a couple of small dings to the reverse. There are some old solder repairs to the reverse. One of the stones tests for paste-the cut is identical to the amethysts and was most likely replaced sometime in the 19th century. The bail and its hinge are strong and work well. Terms of Sale
TERMS OF SALE & RETURNS
We make great efforts to honestly and accurately describe each item we list. We back this up with many photographs, all with a close-up zoom option for detailed inspection. Due to the majority of our items being antique/vintage and often unique it can be difficult to determine age and as such all our items are sold 'as is'. However, if we are not certain about the age of an item we will either not mention an age or say the item is being sold as a later or modern piece and then leave it up to more experienced buyers to determine the exact age. Items are not returnable if it was not of the age/value you were hoping it to be with no exceptions. If we place a date on an item we guarantee it to be of that period or earlier. If you require further pictures or more information about an item, please let us know prior to bidding or purchase. Items cannot be returned for any condition issues either shown in the pictures or mentioned in the listing. As many items we sell are one hundred years or older we will not accept returns for wear consistent with the item's age. Any item mentioned as sold 'as is' in the listing will not be eligible for any form of return or refund. If it is determined an item is eligible for a return, the item must be shipped back within 48 hours, insured and tracked. A restocking fee may apply. We are very easy to work with and welcome any and many questions during our listings, so please let us know if you have one! Thanks again for looking!
