Description
SUPER IMPORTANT PLEASE READ!!! 10 (TEN) BUSINESS DAYS HANDLING FROM THE USA !!! (not counting weekends and/or holidays)
If this doesn't work for you kindly DO NOT PURCHASE. I cannot change this policy.
Do me a favor please and READ THE ENTIRE description -
always. I do my darn best. I attach 12 detailed pictures, inside, outside, sideways, etc. on my hand, with a coin, with the scale, with the measuring tape etc. All gold is tested, all information imparted is factual. I don't sugar coat anything, I don't change or enlarge pictures but tell it how it is.
Do NOT leave undeserved feedback because YOU
glanced over the details or imagined something different (too big, too small, too heavy, too light, not what I expected etc.) It's LITERALLY all in the description.
I had a retail store for many years which is closed due to Cov*d and I am selling my inventory online. I am ALWAYS ready to answer any and all questions, take more pictures or help you with your decision in any way I can.

Alloys with a higher gold content will have a color that is more saturated and yellow. In contrast, lower-karat alloys
will look paler in comparison.
RARE AND VERY COLLECTIBLE ca. 1820 Georgian mourning pin brooch with seed pearls 9 k yellow gold (I have a similar one listed in an oval shape - both were purchased together from the same estate and belonged to the same woman)
-
Details:
Georgian era:
~1820s pin brooch - which could easily be converted into a pendant or even a ring by a competent jeweler (I currently do NOT offer this service)
Rare find:
200+ year old pins in this condition are rare to find
Mourning jewelry:
braided hair under glass
Hairwork or jewelry made of human hair
has appeared throughout the history of craft work, particularly those made to be used for private work ship or mourning. From the Middle Ages through the early 20th century, memorial hair jewelry remained common. Hair considered to be a remnant of the person is was cut from also has often played a part in myths and legends
Metal:
9 k gold
not hallmarked
but tested (perfectly normal for an antique item of this age)
Details:
Surrounded by seed pearls; back is plain gold (with wear and patina of course)
A seed pearl
is
a small natural pearl,
formed in either a saltwater oyster or freshwater mussel, that is usually less than 2mm in diameter
In good condition - glass has small dust specs inside.
Again this is a 200+ year old item
. Pin itself is not gold (most of the pins attached to the brooches are not gold)
No repairs, no issues, glass is intact
THIS IS A SMALL BUT LOVELY PIN:
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF G_D:
And this happens over and over and over .... It is NOT MY FAULT if you
'forget'
to read the measurements nor is it a reason for a return. If you cannot visualize what 2 cm look like (happens to the best of us) please take out a measuring tape to double check.
I have not cleaned this antique item (as a general rule I never clean antique items but leave them as they are with their patina)
I have a very similar mourning brooch listed (see my other listings). This one is rectangular the other one is oval. Both were purchased from the same estate and belonged to the same person.
Origin:
United Kingdom

Size:
approx.
2 centimeters long x 1.3 centimeters at its widest (or 0.79 inches x 0.51 inches)
Again, please check on a measuring tape what 0.91" look like in real life
-
Weighs
approx.
3.6 grams (see scale)
Weight and measurements are
approximate and taken to the best of my abilities.
PLEASE CHECK PIN FOR SCALE (SIZE) next to an US quarter coin, with the measuring tape (in inches), on my fingers and hands (I am female). Compare the measurements and the weight to a pin you own.
I really cannot do better than this.
It cannot be my fault if you don't read the entire description. Ask any and all questions BEFORE bidding. I'll gladly help
Colors:
gold, pearl colored, hair under glass is dark blond (light brown) at least that is how I see the colors. You
might
perceive the colors differently or they
might display differently on your screen.
9 k gold is not as yellow as 14 or 18 k gold (see information on alloys above).
Pictures were taken in broad day light on a sunny day with an Iphon*.
Pictures were taken in broad sunlight and in the shade for comparison purposes.
Last picture was taken inside. Colors
might
display differently on your screen or you might perceive the colors differently.
The sun brightens every picture.
No alterations were made, no enhancements, no filters used, no photo-shop.
A word about colors:
I DECLINE ANY AND ALL RESPONSIBILITY as to how colors display on your screen or how you might perceive them. There is quite simply no winning.
SOLD AS PICTURED AND AS IS
- Condition:
Please level with me
:
I don't sell my items for 1000s of $$. All are reasonably priced and many are collector's items and very old. I CANNOT go over items with a magnifying glass mentioning every little fleck, scratch or perceived imperfections. Most of these items are 2 centuries old. My description is already very lengthy (the majority of sellers describe their items in 2 lines)
Please use your good judgement,
ask any and all questions and for goodness sake read the description
and check all the pictures. Questions? I'll gladly help.
Item is in good USED PRE-OWNED condition with
normal wear for a very, very old item
- not new as new or anything else.
It is an ANTIQUE 200+ years old used pin.
ALL items that were used hav
e dings, scratches, wear, patina,
etc. That's just the nature of vintage and antique items.
The glass has little white dots (see pictures) which are dust specs but is in good condition.
The braided hair under glass is fine
The pin (not the brooch) itself is a bit warped not much)
This is a nice antique mourning pin.
ALL VINTAGE/ANTIQUE ITEMS HAVE BEEN USED AND ARE SOLD IN THE CONDITION SHOWN AND AS-IS. Please refer to the pictures as they are part of the description. I
tem has NOT been cleaned (as a
side note
:
I never clean any of the vintage or antique items in order to preserve their patina but leave it to the new owner to do as they deem fit.
NO RETURNS
NO GIFT BOX but nicely and securely packaged and always fully insured.
I SHOW BOTH PINS TOGETHER IN THE LAST PICTURE
BUT THIS AUCTION IS ONLY FOR THE RECTANGULAR PIN.
THE OVAL PIN CAN BE FOUND IN MY OTHER LISTINGS.
