    Bold signature of Andrew Jackson, the 7th U.S. President.  Signature on a partial document.  Measures 7" x 6.5" overall.  Signature is 3.5" long.  Verso appears to be addressed to Major Russell Wheeler. N. Stonington (CT.)  Inscribed "Your Obedient Servant Andrew Jackson".   Small piece of seal still affixed at bottom.
    Andrew Jackson
    (March 15, 1767 – June 8, 1845) was an American lawyer, soldier, and statesman.  Served as the seventh President of the United States
    1829 to 1837. Before being elected to the presidency, Jackson gained fame as a general in the US Army a
    nd served in both houses of the U.S. Congress.
    Russel Wheeler
    (August 20, 1796 - July 8, 1856) was a Captain in J.W. Hulls Co of the 13th Regiment,
    Connecticut
    Militia during the War of 1812 and was present for the defense of Stonington when the British attacked on 10 August 1814.  He was appointed Postmaster of N. Stonington on 22 March 1841.
