Description
This is a rare Renaissance silver-gilt fede betrothal ring, dating to the 16th century. The bezel depicts a pair of clasped hands, from which a blossoming (flowering) heart emerges. This refers to 'blossoming' love, indicative of this being a betrothal or engagement ring. The openwork band represents two bands geometrically interlaced into a single band, alluding to two lives joined as one (again referring to a marriage). The ring is in excellent condition, intact and with a lovely lemon gold gilding. A fabulous early ring in wearable condition!OBJECT:
